Measuring your living room
A sofa is chosen in the context of a room, with its doors and windows, passageways and other furniture. This method helps you measure your living room, read the dimensions on a product page and compare a layout before ordering. It does not replace checking access or the model’s specifications with Maison DE-NA.
Measure the room before placing the furniture
Draw the living room walls and note the lengths that are actually usable. Add the doors and their opening direction, the windows, radiators and items that will remain in the room. Mark the usual routes: the entrance, balcony, another room or access to a bookcase. This lets you compare furniture on the same plan.
Also measure the access route to the living room: doors, corridors, stairs, lifts and turns. The width of an assembled sofa is not enough to determine whether it will fit through. Transport dimensions and whether components can be separated are model-specific details to check with Maison DE-NA.
Read length, depth and height
In a top view, length and depth describe the furniture’s footprint. Height helps you compare its presence in the room or its relationship to doors and windows; it does not replace seat height. For a corner sofa, also draw the return and check the viewpoint used to describe its orientation.
An example with the M008 straight sofa
The size sold for the M008 straight sofa is 220 × 110 × 78 cm, in the order width × depth × height. For an initial floor layout, its outer rectangle therefore measures 220 × 110 cm. This outline helps you plan the layout; it does not describe the seating area or the dimensions of a package.
At a scale of 1:20, one centimetre on your paper represents 20 cm in the room. The M008 rectangle becomes 11 × 5.5 cm. Use the same scale for the walls and other furniture. You can also mark the outline on the floor with paper or tape suitable for your floor finish, then try your usual movements through the space.
Position the sofa and coffee table together
Place the sofa, then the table, and identify the seats from which the tabletop will be used. A table that looks small in an image may obstruct a passageway once its dimensions are drawn on the plan. Compare the coffee tables using the measurements on their product pages; the base design can matter as much as the tabletop design.
For a specific example, the M017 coffee table product page provides its design dimensions. Transfer them exactly as presented, without inferring the material or weight from the illustrated veining. For a surface beside a seat, the side tables are intended for a different position.
Check the return of a corner sofa
The corner sofas require you to draw the return before placing the table. Note the orientation you want and keep the same viewpoint throughout the comparison. A rendering does not prove that a model is reversible; this possibility must be specified for the selected model.
There is no single passageway width suitable for every room and every use. Use the plan or the outline marked on the floor to try access to the seats, door opening and your household’s movements. Specific accessibility needs require a suitable assessment.
Your living room measurement sheet
Download the living room measurement sheet (PDF in French, 2 pages)
A blank measurement sheet, a grid plan and the M008 sofa template at a scale of 1:20. Print at 100% and check the 50 mm reference bar before drawing.
Copy or print this table to prepare your discussion. Use the same unit throughout, in centimetres, and state the source of every measurement: your own measurements, a product page or confirmation from Maison DE-NA.

Once you have completed your measurements, compare the Maison DE-NA sofas and the product pages for your selected pieces. To check an orientation, a measurement or access to the home, send your plan and selected models to Maison DE-NA. The product images are design renderings, distinct from photographs of manufactured pieces.
